who are

Cuco and Clara?

(koo-co and clā-rā)

Cuco and Clara was named after my mother’s paternal grandparents with whom she and her siblings spent many summers and holidays on their humble farm in Canasi, a small town in the province of Matanzas, Cuba.  Surrounded by the love of many uncles, aunts, and cousins, their curiosity thrived there, having the run of the town which they explored – often unsupervised – from sunrise to dusk.

C + C was created to honor my history and heritage. My mother influenced my love for art, architecture, and design. My father, fostered my love for music and travel. My most vivid childhood memories are of our large family celebrations, crowded and loud dinner conversations, all-day beach picnics, laughter, and the incredible scents of home cooking, bright citrus, and strong coffee.

At Cuco + Clara, it is our intention to create and curate beautiful things for your home.

You will find this reflected in our unique home décor and vintage pieces, locally sewn pillows made from vintage textiles, and our fine candles and home fragrances which are lovingly made with high quality ingredients and poured by hand in our small studio. Their incredible scents can transform a room, help you create a warm and welcoming environment for each season, and evoke wonderful memories. We curate items that tell a story, and we invite you to explore our collection and become a part of the Cuco + Clara story.

About the Founder

Meghan is a native Texan who grew up in Houston. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from the University of Texas and her Master’s of Interior Architecture from Cal Poly Pomona in Los Angeles.

Her love for art and design grew from a very young age, encouraged by her parents and a gifted first grade art teacher who exposed her to art history, the Impressionists, and the book Linnea in Monet’s  Garden. This interest took her to study fine arts in college, concentrating on drawing and painting. Interior design was always a special interest, and after graduating from college, she relocated to Los Angeles to study Interior Architecture. She lived in Los Angeles for 5 years where she immersed herself in the design community, working with and learning from several LA residential designers. There, she developed her design aesthetic – a combination of feminine and masculine, found and treasured.

To Meghan, design should have a personality beyond its function. And your home should reflect both who you are and how you want to live in it. We hope you will delight in bringing our collections home with you.
